october 🍁 a month of celebration there is no where else I’d rather be then sitting on the ground sipping ginger tea at night while Joel chases Bay around the couch. there is so much going on that can feel stretching yet, every time Joel & I talk about the years we’ve been together, it’s been this last one that has really stripped away all that doesn’t matter in the end. God has purified our motives, our desires, our needs, our dreams, everything — thank goodness that He is near to us & that His love can hold it all when we are weary. thank goodness for the way that having a kid forces out all the unnecessary in our lives & brings a deep sense of dependence on our Heavenly Father. just some lil’ glimpses into the deep joy these people bring me — from coffee out as a family, to cool porch evenings with the pups, to Baylee conquering a year of life, to friends bringing a miracle earthside, to wednesday nights, to the leaves changing just like we do 🍂

I can still vividly remember walking into the hospital as the sun was rising in the sky… 🌅 it was the most exciting & darkest day we have faced as a family of three. Baylee has brought us so much joy & hope & life & peace this year — more than we could ever imagine before she joined us✨ She is bright, resilient, so tactile, chatty, so happy, & a silly goose🪿 She currently loves: 📚 flipping the pages of books & chewing on them 🍎 apples & she’ll yell at you until you let her have some of yours 🏡 crawling around the house & counting screws in the stairs 🎵 any type of music & thing that can make noise God has brought us through it all & is still walking us through healing — & all glory to Him, the God of David, who knows the depths of pain & the mountain tops of joy & is more than able.

year 32 in the books, on to 33✨ a year of countless raw milk egg yolk lattes a year where I brought my baby girl earth-side a year of deep joy & wide grief as a family a year of choosing to heal at Jesus’ pace a year of God’s indescribable provision a year of softening & simplicity “be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, & faithful in prayer” romans 12:12 the past three years have lead me back to this verse along with so many others that have always been deep roots of my faith. it reminds me to simplify & look to Jesus in complicated feelings & seasons ☀️🍂❄️🌷 God has gone before me constantly: • revealing His way (isaiah 55:8-9) • refining me to be made new (job 23:10 & psalm 66:10-12) • softening every part of who I am (colossians 3:12-14) • pruning places / people / parts of old me (john 15:1-8) • bringing soul-sweet community (proverbs 17:17) • tenderly helping me grieve & heal (psalm 42:11 & psalm 147:3) • giving me the true desires of my/His heart (psalm 37:4) • & showing me how deeply He loves (ephesians 3:14-21) & He wants to go ahead of you in these ways too☝🏼 I’ve only been on this earth 33 years, but what I know without a shadow of a doubt is the faithfulness of Jesus & how much He desires to know & love you🤍 cheers to this next year ☕️ I think it’s going to be a sweet one✨

goodbye july 👋🏼🎆✨🥰🌧️🫶🏻 a month full of farmers market runs, contact naps, sweet friends, hard work, the sound of giggles, beyond beautiful sunsets, the best date nights, & bath time in the sink with a view — the more we simplify in our house, the more peace we’ve had. even in stepping out with big changes, we see the provision of God already & the joy of removing instead of adding. in a way, it already feels like we’re getting ready for the autumn season: one of change, of deep cleaning, of readying ourselves to embrace warm food & cold air. it’s going to be a good one 🍂

I didn’t think I could love you more — until I saw you become Baylee’s dad 🫶🏻 Your sacrificial love. Your determination. Your goofiness. + so much more Baylee doesn’t know how good she has it with a dad who is selfless & steady & kind — can’t wait to see all the ways you show her the love of Jesus through how you treat her (because I know the incredible way you already treat me 🤍). not taking any moment for granted 🫶🏻 #babiesdontkeep

I had dreamed & hoped for a home birth. I only shared that hope with people who I trusted (bc of negative reactions) but I always said, “…that is my hope, but I hold it open handed with whatever God wants.” I knew this birth would require surrender, but had no idea to what extent. • In the beautiful care of @havenbirth I found out I had Complete Placenta Previa on week 22. It hit me like a ton of bricks hearing about all the possible things that could happen. I grieved the hope & dream I had for my first baby & was covered in prayer by family, coworkers, my doula @thewholemother_ , the Haven staff, & close friends. • I had to transfer to their OB for week 28 & on. It was whiplash. Sweet peaceful comfortable office visits at Haven were replaced with long wait times, cold walls, & quick conversations. But, thank God for a Dr who was truly kind hearted, understanding of my ‘crunchiness’, & above all respectful to hearing my voice. I surrendered once more. • Thankfully I made it to week 36 without any of the fearful issues many woman with CPP have. Then I faced my scheduled C-section. From week 22 to 36 ‘…for His glory’ kept ringing in my head. Knowing He was writing my baby girl’s story. • I went into the operating room alone, got a spinal tap in, & laid down. My legs straight & my right arm out with tubes attached, & before Joel came in they lifted up another part of the table for my left arm to be stretched out on — & it sank in. Full surrender. • I didn’t know for a c-section that I’d be laying on a cross shaped table. I surrendered to it, knowing I was laying down my own body, being cut through 7 layers, to bring my baby earth side. Tears came down my face. I have no idea the weight that Jesus held on that cross for the world… it makes me weep when I think about it having that experience. • There’s so much more to this story, but this is to honor every mom who hoped for different but did the bravest thing she could by straddling the line of BOTH AND — both wholistic & medical, both grief & joy, both life & death — it’s sacred & holy that we as mothers are invited into the Creators creation of life here. • C-section Mama, you are beautiful & capable & seen🤍

lil’ moments that I’m living for 5 months in✨ we have a whole new person in our home & we ourselves are whole new people — so thankful for this lil’ family & the simplicity of our lives in this season.

Jan - Dec 2023 | BOTH AND ✨🤍🙏🏼🌿 It’s been a year of seeing @joelguthrie be the most incredible husband, friend, & now father. Even in a tough year he’s been so faithful & sacrificial through every moment. We love each other so much, but that deepened beyond measure this year. Got the privilege to hang out with some awesome girls for the past 3 years at @crosspoint.students as well as work alongside my favorite Franklin team every week @crosspoint.tv From exciting ultrasounds & yolky-lattes on the porch in the morning sun to anxious ultrasounds & having to literally be ‘benched’ — it’s been a year of leaning into the change of maiden to mother. I have such a deeper understanding of what sacrifice means as a mom. After waiting 7 days we finally got to hold her in our arms & we haven’t put her down much since. It’s been a year of BOTH ANDs: joy & grief, peace & unknown, hard & good. Walking into 2024 surrendered & waiting to see what God wants to make of it 🫶🏻

a lil’ over a month of sweet baby B🤍 It was a roller coaster month 🎢 Part of it spent in NICU, going home without her, getting to hold her finally, worry with bringing home a preemie, sweet cuddles with the tiniest girl, laughing at all her silly faces, having to bug her every 1.5 hours to force feed her, hearing her coo while we hold her, seeing her smirk at us, falling in love with how she sleeps with her hand by her face, a run to the emergency room, Baylee reacting to our voices, getting out of the house for the first time, tears, laughter, & so much more… …through the good/hard we are SO IN LOVE WITH HER & we can’t imagine not having her in our lives & we are soaking up all the cuddles through every moment🤍

Our sweet little Baylee came into the world 10/2 & finally came home from NICU today🫶🏻 Because of complete placenta previa her & I went through some hardships before/during/after the c-section that led us to needing a longer road to recovery. She’s been in NICU since birth fighting & working hard to get better — & because of the incredible NICU unit & her tenacity for only being 37 weeks, SHE IS HOME & WE CANNOT STOP SMILING🤍😭 Our entire story as a family since receiving the CPP news has been wrapped in the faithfulness of Jesus. From the most incredible doctors & nurses who truly cared for Baylee & I to an army of people praying for us each day — we have felt sadness & grief, but never anxiety or fear — a true peace that surpasses all understanding guarded our hearts & minds 🤍 [phil.4:6-7]. To give you some idea of who I am just mix Ron Swanson, Elaine Benes, & Blair Waldorf together in a blender.

I grew up in sunny Southern California but have lived in Hawaii and England before moving to Tennessee then on to Texas! I cannot help being a movie/show quoter to the extreme - just tell me a movie & I bet I could quote at least one line from it!

You can find me with multiple beverages on my desk or in my car on any given day & I never pass up an opportunity to take a picture of the sky.

Married my best friend, Joel Guthrie, last year & cannot say enough about how sweet this life is with him. The words our pastor gave each of us when we got married were determined, for Joel, & passionate, for me. I think those two descriptors define us pretty well :)

To know why I created Mind, Heart, Soul, & Body you have to know this one thing...

When twelve I created my own missions statement: Helping others know and live out of their whole identity. (Yes, I was a weird twelve year old haha). Later on in life I realized to do that we have to embrace, understand, challenge, encourage, & fight to explore the different known and unknown parts of who we are to make that happen. I believe with every fiber of my being that we can join together on this journey with each other to know our true identity. I do not believe this happens over night, nor do I believe that you reach a finish line - this is a life long journey - a progression.

Mind, Heart, Soul, & Body exists to encourage and challenge others to live out of their whole identity: mind, heart, soul, and body.
